Hello,
Since our last newsletter, there have been quite a few changes both at UnitedLayer and the datacenter industry in general. As many of you heard, there was a power event in San Francisco last week that resulted in significant downtime for a multitude of companies hosted at various locations in San Francisco.
More than anything, this incident reminded us of the importance of not only having the requisite policies and procedures in place, but also having the right team to ensure they are followed. Power delivery and environmental controls are obviously crucial to the datacenter and we in turn take them very seriously. To that effect, in May we brought on board a full-time facilities manager with decades of electrical experience and industry knowledge. On an ongoing basis, we work closely with facility partners and vendors to ensure that equipment is rigorously tested and maintained. Our updated maintenance reports are available to customers for their perusal upon request.
Here is what is going on at UnitedLayer:
Large Infrastructure Upgrades
- Our 10Gb network infrastructure is officially live. After upgrading our west coast routing and peering nodes to Cisco 6500 series equipment, we are excited at the prospect of increasing the bandwidth available to our customers. One of our newest team members, Ivan Batanov was instrumental in working with the networking group to make this happen in such a short time.
